Care 4 Rare
Rare diseases, though uncommon, still affect a fairly large number of the population. According to ICMR data from October 2024, nearly 15,000 patients in India have been recorded as suffering from various rare diseases, with almost half of them being children. In the past, limited awareness of symptoms and available treatment options often resulted in inadequate disease management. To address this gap, the Government of India introduced the National Rare Disease Policy in 2021, identifying 63 such conditions and extending treatment and financial assistance, which has proven to be a lifeline for many patients.

OPPI’s #Care4Rare initiative caters to this relatively small patient community, providing strong support to the Government’s policy. Our member companies actively engage/collaborate with Centres of Excellence (CoEs) towards securing better outcomes, through research, therapy and treatment accessibility for people living with these conditions.
Through #Care4Rare, team OPPI strives towards improving the lives of those patients suffering from rare diseases such as Sickle Cell Disease, Generalized Pustular Psoriasis, Fabry, Hereditary Angioedema, and Lysosomal Storage Disease, among others. The initiative also seeks to create awareness by offering insights into these conditions through informative LinkedIn posts and other media, addressing their symptoms, causes, and available treatment options.
